Men’s Rugby Upsets Algonquin, Advances to OCAA Semifinal

OTTAWA – The Humber men's rugby team beat Algonquin (5-1, 2nd East) in OCAA quarter-final action Sunday afternoon, 20-10.

On a wet day in the nation's capital, the Hawks made their first postseason appearance since 2014. Two-sport athlete Zack Shurtleff led the way for Humber, finishing the day with 15 points (one try, two penalty kicks, and two converts). Curtis Sandiford added a try of his own as the Humber's defence held the Thunder to a season-low ten points.

  • The Hawks improve to 2-0 all-time against Algonquin the postseason.
  • Humber is now 9-0 in postseason play under the guidance of head coach Fabian Rayne.
