HAWKS WATT GRABS FANSHAWE INDIVIDUAL TITLE - TEAMS GRAB SILVER

LONDON, ON: The Humber Hawks men's and women's teams opened their season today in stifling heat at FireRock GC hosted by Fanshawe.

Humber's 2017-2018 Male Athlete of the Year, Conner Watt begins his 2018-2019 campaign.

Shooting two under par, 35 on the front and the back, a total score of 70, Watt wins the tournament outright.

However in the team competition, there was a tie for first place between Humber's A team and the host team Fanshawe. In order to break the tie, 5 scores had to be considered instead of the 4 which had them in a tie. The men put up good numbers - Conner Watt 70, Cameron Griffin 72, Cameron Brennan 76, Luke McLean 78, Michael Vance 78 – however the Hawks fell just short and had to accept second place.

In the women's flight, veteran Nadia Marrast battled thick rough and unpredictable greens to post a score of 90, finishing in second place. As a team, the women finished the tournament in second place.

What's next: Humber Golf returns this week for back to back tournaments Wednesday September 19th in Orillia and Thursday September 20th in Barrie.
