DAY OF HAVES AND HAVE NOTS FOR HAWKS ON OPENING ROUND AT NATIONALS

CHILLIWCK, B.C.: The Humber men's golf team had three solid rounds on the first day of competition at the 2018 Golf Canada University/College National Championships, but were unable to get a supporting round to help out out their team score.

As they signed off their scorecards to finish the day, they found themselves in a tenth place tie in the team category with a mark of 298 (+10). The good news is that they only trail a podium spot by six strokes, but the University of Fraser Valley are already running away with team honours at -10, 13 strokes ahead of the closest competitor.

Michael Vance and Conner Watt check in with scores of +1, good enough for a tie for 21st spot in the large field. Both are within striking distance of the leaders. Luke McLean was solid early, and then finished strong at +2. Cameron Brennan (+6, T71st) and Cameron Griffin (+12, T100th) rounded out the team's first day result.
