Men’s Basketball Continues Offensive Surge, Downs Sault, 105-73

SAULT STE. MARIE — Humber men's basketball hit the century mark for the third straight game, picking up the first win of its weekend doubleheader Saturday evening against the Sault Cougars (1-9, 10th West), 105-73.

Jaylan Morgan paced the offence for the Hawks, finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

Humber continued its strong play on the offensive end opening the game on a scoring tear, shooting 11-for-19 from the field and putting up 28 points in the opening frame to take a commanding 13-point lead after one.

That lead would quickly swell following a 10-2 run to start the second quarter as the Cougars had no answer for the Hawks offence and trailed 54-37 at the half.

After a relatively close third quarter, Humber put the game away in the fourth taking a 32-point lead before the final buzzer as the Hawks rolled to their fifth straight win by a score of 105-73.

Throughout the game, Humber got contributions from up and down the lineup, as ten different players scored four or more points in the game.

In his first game as a member of the Hawks, first-year guard Shae Phillips finished with six points, eight rebounds, and an assist in nine minutes of action.
