HAWKS DROP OPENER AT NATIONALS TO AN ALMOST PERFECT EFFORT FROM VANIER

LANGLEY, BC: The Humber Hawks men's basketball team ran into a team that was running on all cylinders in their opening match at the 2019 CCAA Men's Basketball Championship on Thursday afternoon. The Vanier Cheetahs (RSEQ), Quebec champions, controlled the game from the onset, not relinquishing the lead at any point in the match on their way to a 102-94 win.

With the loss, the Hawks are now relegated to the bronze medal route. They will look to advance on Friday afternoon, as they take on another first round loser in the Alberta champions from SAIT (ACAC). The game time is set for 4:00 pm (est).

After running off the first four points, Humber never got even or led the rest of the way. Vanier ruled the game from the 3-point arc, and that ultimately was the difference in the game.

Yes, there were a couple of solid runs that the Hawks put together, but the combination of turnovers at key times and sharp shooting by the Cheetahs were game changers.

DeQuon Cascart led Humber with 19 points, while Curwin Elvis chipped in with 18 and Fowzi Mohamoud had 15.

Elvis was named the Humber Player of the Game.
