No. 2 MEN'S BASKETBALL SET TO HOST No. 12 NIAGARA THURSDAY

The Storyline
No. 2 Humber men's basketball (6-0, 1st West) returns home Feb. 7 when No. 12 Niagara (12-4, 4th West) visits the North Campus Gym. The game will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network at 6 p.m. with Matt Hamel and Kyle Dalton on the call, and Danielle Dupuis reporting from the sidelines.

The Matchup
Humber will conclude its regular season series with Niagara on Thursday. All-time, the Hawks own a 20-4 record against the Knights at home.

Scouting Niagara

• After winning five of their last six games, the Knights found a spot in this week's national rankings, coming in as the 12th ranked program in the country.
• Niagara is led by All-Canadian candidate Van Hutchinson Jr., who is almost averaging a triple-double this season. Through 16 games, Hutchinson Jr. is averaging 24.7 PPG, 12.9 RPG, and 7.1 APG.
• Lequon Hylton – who played with the Knights from 2015-17 before spending a season with Lakehead – has rejoined the Knights for their postseason push.
• As a team, the Knights are shooting a league-low 53.8 per cent (217-for-403) from the free throw line.

Previous Meeting
On Nov. 1, Humber used a big second half to snap its four-game losing streak at Niagara. The Hawks outscored the Knights 49-32 over the final 20 minutes to escape the Welland Campus Athletic Centre with the win, 94-81.

Freshman Kevin Otoo finished with a team-high 20 points in the win, while Jaylan Morgan added 14 points of his own. Van Hutchinson Jr. finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds but struggled from the line, shooting 29.4 per cent (five-for-12).

Ranked
The Hawks are 3-2 this year against CCAA ranked opponents.

The Hawks dropped 130 points on the Sault Cougars Feb. 2., the single-game most since 1991. Through 16 games, Humber is averaging 101.6 PPG and is currently on pace to finish the year as the highest scoring offence in program history (currently 99.6 – 1994-95).

Exclusive Company
With 264 points through 16 games, Jaylan Morgan is on pace to become the 15th player in program history to join the 300-point club.

From Downtown
The Hawks are leading the division with 181 three-pointers made. Fowzi Mohamoud is leading the team with 36 triples this season, the fifth-most in program history.

Moving On Up
With 18 points over the weekend against Sault, senior Curwin Elvis continues to move up Humber's all-time scoring list. With four games remaining, Elvis has a chance to become the first player in program history to play in 90 regular season games.

What's Next?
No. 2 Humber will head to Ancaster to take on Redeemer (10-6, 5th West), Feb. 9. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
