HUMBER WINS RIGHT TO BID FOR 2020 CCAA MEN'S NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

ETOBICOKE, ON: Humber College is just a confirmation call and a rubber stamp away from being named as the host for the 2020 CCAA Men's National Basketball Championship.

The dates for Humber to welcome the nation to the Humber Athletic Centre are March 18-21, 2020.

Humber last hosted the National event in 2001. The hometown Hawks went on to defeat rival OCAA member Sheridan Bruins in the gold medal game.

This will be the third time that Humber will host men's basketball, with the first being a Metro wide hosting in 1983.

The Athletics staff from Humber presented their bid at the recent OCAA Directors Meeting, and were awarded the bid after a very close vote among the 27 member institutions. Two bids were on the table, with both of them being incredibly complete and filled with exciting initiatives.

"We are so excited to host what is one of the most highly regarded CCAA National Championships", said Humber Director of Athletics Ray Chateau. "Humber is known for their hosting prowess, and we are committed to providing an incredible student-athlete experience for all".

The Hawks are just a few years out from winning national gold, grabbing the title as a wildcard team at Mohawk in 2015.
