HAWKS GO TO 3-0 BY WAY OF HUGE 94-81 ROAD WIN AT NIAGARA

WELLAND, ON: In a battle of two unbeaten teams, it was the road team that stole a 94-81 win on Thursday night in Welland. The Humber Hawks, now 3-0 on the season, dropped the host Niagara Knights to 2-1.

The game was tight from the onset, and the score at the end of the first quarter would indicate that, as the Knights led 26-25 in a high scoring frame. Both teams stepped up a bit defensively, but the two squads still combined for 43 points in the quarter, and the scoreboard read 49-45 in the Knights favour.

The Hawks broke through in the third with their best offensive frame of the night, scoring 26, while allowing 18. Heading into the final quarter of play, Humber had turned the tide and were up four.

In a game that featured 15 lead-changes, it was Humber that took over, not allowing Niagara back in half-way through the final quarter. A six-point lead went to double figures, and then settled in with the 13 point difference when the horn sounded to end the game. The Hawks scored 23 in the fourth, while being stingy on defence, giving up a games least 14.

Coming off the bench, it was Kevin Otoo that had the biggest offensive splash for the Hawks, scoring 20 points in his 25 minutes played. Four other Hawks hit for double digits, with Jaylan Morgan leading the way with 14. Fowzi Mohamoud led the team in 3's with four, and finished with 12 points. Veterans DeQuon Cascart and Curwin Elvis had 11. Van Hutchison Jr. of the Knights, led both teams on the night, with 23.
