THREE MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYERS EARN ALL-OCAA DISTINCTION

At the 2018 OCAA Awards Banquet, Humber received two all-star selections, along with an all-rookie team selection.

WELLAND, Ont -- After finishing the regular season with a 15-5 record, the No. 11 Humber men's basketball team was honoured Thursday morning when the league announced its yearly awards, as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

In the toughest conference in the CCAA, Humber secured an OCAA championship appearance for the 35th straight season and established numerous program records along the way under second-year head coach Patrick Au.

Leading the way for Humber was third-year forward Kenny Ejim, an anchor on the fourth-highest scoring offence in the country. In 18 games, Ejim scored 398 points - the third highest total in Humber history - and established a new program record with 58 3-pointers made. Ejim was named an OCAA first team all-star for the first time in his career.

Third-year forward C.J. Bennett enjoyed a career season for Humber as well, becoming just the 13th student-athlete in program history to join the 300-point club. The Brampton native was named a second team all-star for the first time in his career, surpassing his career-high in scoring by 130 points. Bennett finished the season with two triple-doubles - the most on the team.

Freshman point guard Fowzi Mohamoud was named to the OCAA All-Rookie team after playing in every game for Humber this season. Mohamoud finished sixth on the team in scoring and finished second with 29 3-pointers made. The Rexdale native became the third Humber player to be named to the all-rookie team, joining Tyrone Dickson (2013) and R.J. Ramirez (2014).

Dating back to 1981, Humber basketball has received 44 first team all-star selections and 32 second team selections.

The end of the banquet marks the beginning of the 2018 OCAA Championship, hosted by Niagara College. Humber's quarter-final matchup against No. 7 George Brown (18-2, 2nd East) will be later today, with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. The live stream for the game can be found here.
