No. 11 HUMBER BEATS FANSHAWE, 70-59, MOVES INTO SECOND

LONDON, Ont – No. 11 Humber men's basketball (13-4, 2nd West) escaped the Glen Johnston Athletic Centre with a 70-59 win over Fanshawe (10-7, 6th West) Saturday evening.

Kenny Ejim paced the way for Humber with a game-high 19 points and five rebounds, while classmate C.J. Bennett added 14 points on 5-of-10 (50.0 percent) shooting from the floor. Nathaniel Nelson had a big night on the glass, finishing with a season-high 11 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

After trading baskets to begin the game, the Hawks used a 15-4 run to take a 24-13 lead after ten minutes of play. Five of Humber's first eight field goals came from behind the 3-point line.

Humber's fast-paced offence came to a crawl in the second frame, and the Falcons were able to put together an 18-2 run, taking a five-point lead into the half.

After the break, the Hawks kept pace with Fanshawe, forcing the Falcons into early foul trouble. At the 2:02 mark in the third, Jordan Rose converted two free throws before DeQuon Cascart hit a deep triple to retake the lead for Humber. The Hawks went on another 15-2 run at the end of the third quarter and into the fourth, extending their lead to nine points midway through the fourth.

Fanshawe trimmed Humber's lead to three late when Chris Parker hit a corner 3-pointer; however, Jordan Rose countered at the 2:02 mark with a 3-pointer of his own, securing the win for Humber.

• The Hawks continued to be efficient from the charity stripe, shooting 70.0 percent or higher in four straight games.
• Kenny Ejim has scored in double figures 16 times this season.
• Jordan Rose continues to lead the league in 3-point percentage, shooting an impressive 44.9 percent (22-for-49).
• Playing in a season-high 24 minutes, Nathaniel Nelson grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and now has nine blocked shots in six games.
