No. 10 MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO RIVAL SHERIDAN, 88-73

BRAMPTON, Ont -- The No. 10 Humber men's basketball team (6-2, 3rd West) dropped its second contest of the season Thursday evening, falling to No. 4 Sheridan (7-0, 1st West), 88-73, at Davis Campus.

Kenny Ejim, C.J. Bennett, and DeQuon Cascart all finished in double figures, with Ejim tallying a game-high 18 points, including ten in the second half. Bennett finished with 17 points, while Cascart added 16 on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor.

The Hawks fell behind from the opening tip, as the Bruins began the game on an 8-2 run. Quick buckets from Bennett and Jordan Rose cut the lead to two until the province's top-ranked offence ended the quarter on a 21-7 run as Humber trailed 29-13 after ten minutes of play.

Humber's offensive struggles continued into the second frame, as Sheridan began to extend its lead, as it dominated the boards, grabbing ten offensive rebounds.  Nick Campbell scored ten first-half points, giving the Bruins 49-28 lead after 20 minutes.

Looking to cut into Sheridan's lead, Humber went on a 10-0 in the third quarter, trimming the Bruins lead to 12, but unfortunately for the Hawks, that was as close as they would get, dropping the game 88-73.

Humber shot 43.2 percent (16-for-37) from the field in the second half, but the Bruins continued to dominate the glass, grabbing 29 boards in the final 20 minutes of play.

  • Humber falls to 18-32 (.360) all-time on the road against Sheridan.
  • Against ranked opponents this season, the Hawks are now 0-2.
  • Humber held Sheridan to its second-lowest points total of the season.
