ETOBICOKE, Ont – 14 players saw action and the No. 6 men's basketball team (5-0, 1st West) beat Sault College (0-4, 11th West) at the North Campus Gym on Sunday, 123-52.
Byron Trench led the way for the Hawks, recording his first double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kenny Ejim led all scorers with 23 points, while Fowzi Mohamoud dropped a career-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. C.J. Bennett added 14 points, and Jaspreet Singh scored 12 to round out the double-digit scorers for Humber.
Rik Lam paced the way for Sault with 14 points, while Declan Stockdale added 11 points off the bench.
After Ejim opened the scoring seven seconds into the game, Humber went on a 12-3 run over the next five minutes of action.
At the half, Humber led 66-21, shooting a blistering 55.6 percent (25-of-45) from the floor.
Humber continued to press defensively in the second half, holding the Cougars to 31 points in the final two quarters.
Byron Trench went off in the third frame, grabbing six rebounds and scoring ten points (4-of-7) in the quarter.
Terry Hill added a game-high six points off the bench in the fourth quarter, as Humber went on to win, 123-52.
Game Notes
- Humber's total rebounds (70) and bench points (73) are the most during the Patrick Au era.
- For the first time in program history, the Hawks have scored 100-plus points in five straight games to begin the season, surpassing its previous high of three, established during the 1994-95 season.
- The 123 points scored was the second most in program history, falling 11 points shy of the record set during the 1990-91 season in a 134-73 win against George Brown. During that same season, Humber set the program record with seven 100-plus point games.
