BEWLEY JOINS BASKETBALL COACHING STAFF

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- Former Hawks standout Chad Bewley, a 2015 CCAA National Champion, has become the second coaching hire of the Patrick Au era.

"I am excited to add Chad to the coaching staff," said Coach Au, who led the Hawks to a bronze medal in his first season at the helm.  "When he played here he was like another coach on the floor."

Bewley joined the Hawks basketball program in 2013 and played for two seasons. During his time wearing the blue and gold, the Hawks owned a 32-4 (.889) regular season record and won the program's sixth national championship in 2015.

"He's got a great depth of playing experience, not only was he a part of our national championship team, but he's played professionally in a number of different countries around the world," added Coach Au.  "He has great leadership qualities and knows the importance of building relationships with the players."

At the conclusion of his playing career, Bewley went on to travel the world after he signed professional contracts in China, Spain, Australia, and El Salvador.

"I'm returning to Humber to coach for the same reason I came as a player," said Bewley.  "The winning culture that has been created around the school permeates throughout each sport, beginning at the Administrative level, all the way down."

While playing internationally, Bewley was the head coach of the U18 Darwin Rebels in Australia and the U12 CBV in Spain.  Locally, he has coached at Elite Camps, running coaching clinics and training AAU teams for almost a decade.

"There is a championship mentality [at Humber] that winning is not an accident, it's a habit," added Bewley. "That is something I will always love about Humber, and I want to continue to be a part of."

The Hawks will host open tryouts beginning September 5.  For more information regarding tryouts, click here.
