MEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS KENTUCKY PREP STAR

ETOBICOKE, ON: Humber College added some depth to their team by signing a talented guard to its roster for the 2016-17 OCAA season.  Felix Frimpong, a standout from Cordia High School in Knott County, Kentucky, has committed to play for Humber, announced Hawks head coach Patrick Au.

A native of Rexdale, the five-foot-ten guard spent his first two seasons playing for Martingrove C.I., where he averaged over 20 points-per-game for the Bears junior team.

"Felix is a high character guy with an exceptional work ethic," said Coach Au.  "The coaching staff is really excited to have him be a part of our program.  His great attitude and willingness to learn will be key contributors to his development this year."

After his sophomore year with Martingrove, Frimpong transferred to Cordia Prep to play for high-profile head coach Rodrick Rhodes.  Rhodes was a first round pick by the Houston Rockets in the 1997 NBA draft and later spent time playing for the Vancouver Grizzlies.

As a senior with Cordia, Frimpong helped the Lions to a 23-9 overall record while finishing third on the team in scoring, first in three-point field goals made.

At Humber, Frimpong will be enrolled in the Media Communications program, a two-year diploma.

"Humber basketball is a winning program," said Frimpong.  "They've created something special and I want to be a part of it."

Frimpong is the third recruit announced by Coach Au this season, joining Jarod Stefaniuk (Grimsby) and DeQuon Cascart (Toronto).  Frimpong and the rest of the Hawks begin their exhibition season on August 9th, when Charleston Southern University (NCAA-DI) comes to the Humber Athletic Centre.
