HAWKS PERFECT AT DAWSON CLASSIC, CAPTURE TITLE

SUNDAY UPDATE: Humber's Men's Basketball Team captured the Dawson Classic on Sunday thanks to a couple of impressive wins to cap a perfect 5-0 weekend. In the tournaments semi-final, the Hawks took a 73-61 win over Loyalist College; the blue and gold were led by 6'10″ centre Vule Grujic's dominant play down low, where he poured in seventeen points on eight of fifteen shooting to go along with eight rebounds.

The win set up a finals showdown with arch rival Sheridan; Humber played a great forty minutes in the early season statement game, earning a 75-67 victory for the title. The Hawks rode a hot second quarter, in which they outscored the Bruins 26-14 to give themselves a twelve point half-time lead, to victory. Sheridan was unable to put a dent in the advantage, as Humber kept them at arms length for the rest of the night. Vule was again a terror in the post, owning the paint en route to a 19 point, 12 rebound performance. Combo forward Brayden Gohn chipped in with twelve points of his own, while Junior Davis cleaned up the glass to the tune of nine boards. Guard Gibson Eduful was named Tournament MVP, while Grujic was named to the Tournament All-Star Team.

Humber opens the regular season on October 23rd when they host Mohawk; with such a dominant showing, the Hawks appear to be in great shape heading into a season with high expectations.

SATURDAY UPDATE: Humber dominated host Dawson to the tune of a 90-47 win on Saturday afternoon; Nerquaye Nettey led the way with fourteen points on six for six shooting, while Kenny Ejim added thirteen points and five boards. The win moves the Hawks to 3-0 on the weekend, next up is a 9:30pm matchup with Loyalist.

FRIDAY UPDATE: The Hawks opened up their weekend with a pair of wins on Friday. A tight 66-64 win over Ste. Foy on Friday morning kicked the tournament off, as Brayden Gohn led the way for Humber with fifteen points; Chad Bewley chipped in with thirteen points and seven rebounds in the victory. In the night cap, the blue and gold came away with a 83-74 win over John Abbott; they were led offensively by Matthew Bukovec's s sixteen points, while Gibson Eduful and Vule Grujic had thirteen and eleven points, respectively. Next up for Humber is a matchup with host Dawson College.

HAWKS HEADED TO MONTREAL FOR DAWSON TOURNAMENT

The Men's Basketball Team, coming off a 15-3 season that saw them finish tied for first in the Western Division, are headed to Montreal this weekend for the Dawson Tournament.

The Hawks 2013/14 season ended with a Bronze Medal at the provincial championships, and the squad will be bringing back most of their key contributors, along with a couple of impressive recruits. Headlining the returnees are the OCAA's Rookie of the Year RJ Ramirez, who averaged over ten points per game and nearly two steals in his first college season, and Tyrone Dickson, an OCAA Tournament All-Star who averaged a tick under nine rebounds a game and holds Humber's single season rebounding record. Adding 6'10″ big man Vule Grujic and swingman Kenny Ejim to what was already the division's s third highest scoring offense should make Humber that much more dangerous, and easily among Ontario's strongest teams.

The Hawks tournament kicks off on Friday at 10:45am when they take on Sainte-Foye, followed by a 4:15pm match-up with John Abbott. On Saturday the blue and gold take on host Dawson College at 2:15pm, then have a night cap at 9:30pm against the Loyalist Lancers. Humber will then potentially play in either the Bronze or Gold Medal Game on Sunday, set for 10am and 12pm respectively on Sunday.
