NORTH YORK – Humber softball (9-1, 1st OCAA) extended its win streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep over the Seneca Sting (0-10, 7th OCAA).
Game One: Humber 3, Seneca 1
Seneca opened the scoring when a passed ball and a throwing error allowed Leeanne Delorme to score from second base in the second inning.
Humber responded in the fourth when freshman Julie Kostuch laced a two-run single to score Hannah Koziolek and Meaghan Murphy.
Kadyn Wotton started her first game of the season and continued Humber's trend of quality starts from its big arms. Wotton went five innings, giving up one unearned run and only allowed one hit.
Presly Buchanan gave the Hawks some breathing room in the seventh, cashing in Alexa Vassos who started the frame with a double.
Myranda Pierson, making her first appearance of the season, came on in relief and fired two shutout innings and struck out out all six batters that she faced.
Game Two: Humber 8, Seneca 2
Entering game two, Humber's offence was hitting a combined .290 through nine games. The Hawks opened the game with four hits, highlighted by Kate Kostuch's RBI triple.
Senior Meaghan Murphy added on to Humber's lead when she belted a ground-rule double with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.
Freshman Julie Kostuch continued her solid day, driving in two more runs in the fifth.
Rachel Matheson-Green started her first game of the season, picking up the win after throwing five innings and striking out four.
Meaghan Murphy finished 3-for-3 at the dish, with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
Game Notes
- Wotton recorded her first career OCAA win.
- Picking up her first career save, Pierson became the first Humber pitcher to eclipse 150 career strikeouts.
- Freshman Emma Woodrow picked up her first career OCAA hit.

Humber softball returns to Connorvale Park Sept. 21 to meet the St. Clair Saints (4-4, 3rd OCAA) for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
