The Storyline
The Humber softball team (8-4, 3rd OCAA) returns home after a ten-game road trip to face the Mohawk Mountaineers (3-9, 6th OCAA) on Thurs. Sept. 27 at Connorvale Park. Game one is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network with Matt Hammel and Kyle Dalton on the call.

Last Time Out
The Hawks split both of their games on the weekend with the Fanshawe Falcons (8-6, 4th OCAA) and the St. Clair Saints (13-3, 1st OCAA).

Scouting Mohawk

  • 2016 OCAA Rookie of the Year Shelby Hayward continues to be the hottest hitter on the Mountaineers roster. She boasts a .463 batting average with 19 hits on the year.

  • Mohawk has struggled on the rubber this season with both their starters having an ERA over eight.

  • The Mountaineers have only scored 37 runs in 12 games while allowing 105 through the stretch.

Previous Meeting
The Hawks swept the away half of the series at the beginning of the season. In game one, the Hawks scored in every inning except one, taking the win, 14-5.

Game two saw, Bree Donaldson, throw a complete game, only allowing one run. The Hawks took that one as well, 9-1.

Monkey Off Their Back
The Hawks win in Windsor marked their first victory there in four years. Humber scored nine runs on 12 hits with their 9-3 win against the Saints.

Running Away
Through 12 games, Humber has scored 101 runs and is on pace to shatter the program record of 173 set in 2017.

Fear the Freshman
Humber's freshmen have taken on a huge role this season with many of them becoming everyday players. First baseman Hayley Pasma and left-fielder Hannah Koziolek have combined for 21 hits, 14 RBI, and two of Humber's three home runs this season.

Freshman pitchers Meagan Muir and Kadyn Wotton have taken key roles out of the bullpen. In 5.2 innings pitched, Muir has posted an outstanding 1.24 ERA. In 5.1 innings of work, Wotton owns an impressive 2.80 ERA.

El Fuego
At the half-way mark, senior Elisa Gregoris has tied her career-high with 20 RBI. The designated player needs ten RBI over her next 12 games to break the program and OCAA record of 29 set by Hall of Famer Jessica O'Quinn in 2012.

What's Next?
Humber will continue its home-stretch this weekend with a tough test ahead. The Hawks will face the St. Clair Saints on Sept. 29 in their "White-Out" game. Game one is set for 12 p.m.

On Sept. 30, Humber will host the Durham Lords for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. All four games will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
