SOFTBALL FALLS TO DURHAM ON THE ROAD

OSHAWA, Ont -- The Humber softball team (4-2, 2nd OCAA) suffered its first losses of the 2018 season, dropping both games on the road to the Durham Lords (5-1, 1st OCAA). The defending provincial champions took game one, 8-7, and won game two, 5-4.

Game One: Durham 8, Humber 7
Behind Rachel Matheson-Green, the Hawks jumped out to an early lead over the Lords, cruising through the first five frames.

Humber freshman Hannah Koziolek hit her first career OCAA home run and finished with a career-high three RBI in the game.

After a brilliant start to the season, Bree Donaldson was touched up by the Lords in the sixth inning, surrendering four runs as Durham trimmed Humber's lead to one.

Freshman closer Kadyn Wotton came in for the save in the seventh and was unable to secure the win for Humber. Durham pitcher Ashley Black hit a walk-off single to secure the victory for the Lords.

Game Two: Durham 5, Humber 4
The Hawks turned to veteran righty Myranda Pierson in game two, looking to walk away with a series split. Humber jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Durham responded with three runs in the home-half of the third inning.

Trailing by two in the final inning, Humber would cut the deficit in half but was unable to tie up the game.

Elisa Gregoris finished the game 4-for-4 with three RBI, while Aaliyah Davidson recording three hits - including her third triple of the season.

Through six games, Humber's defence has made 12 errors.

What's Next?
The Hawks will continue their road trip on Sept. 16 at Seneca (0-4, 7th OCAA). Game one is scheduled for 10 a.m.
