HAWKS SWEPT AWAY IN FIRST DOUBLEHEADER OF WEEKEND

CONCORD, ON: The Humber Hawks women's softball team hoped they would snare one or two victories against the road weary St. Clair Saints on Saturday afternoon to support their play-off drive, but nothing went their way on this day.

The Saints, less than 24 hours away from being swept by Durham after a five hour bus trip from Windsor on Friday, came out swinging for a 15-3, 9-4 sweep of the Hawks.  Humber had entered this game perfect at home.

It was a spectacular Fall day, with temperatures in the high teens, perfect for Fall ball.

In the opener, the Saints combined 17 hits and 5 Hawk errors into 15 runs. Humber ran three pictchers out in this game, and all were ineffective to onslaught put on by the Windsor squad.

The Saints then ran out to an early 5-0 lead in game two. Humber responded with four to make it tight, but Sarah Bondy squared up her second home run of the day, this one of the three run variety.  This shot put the game out of reach.

The Hawks post-season chances will depend on their outcomes in a doubleheader at home versus the first place Fanshawe Falcons on Sunday.

Game times are set for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, from Concord Regional Park.
