HAWKS SOFTBALL DROP TO FOURTH AFTER WEEKEND SWEEP

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's softball team headed down Highway 401 on Saturday morning, in search of bettering their exceptional 8-1 record, and do so against the teams they are fighting for favourable play-off positioning.

The results were not what they wanted, losing three and having the fourth washed away and scheduled for Wednesday this week. With the losses they have dropped to fourth in the division, but do have a few games in hand.

Sunday in Windsor against the league leading Saints proved to be two games with two very different scripts, but with similar endings.

In Game One the Hawks lost by the mercy rule for the second consecutive day, this time by a score of 12-2, in six innings.

Game Two was a ping-pong affair, with both teams taking and losing leads along the way. Humber had a lead with only three outs to go, but the hometown Saints scored a walk-off win by a score of 6-5.

The Hawks record now sits at eight wins and four losses.

Humber will play Fanshawe on Wednesday night, with two games that are currently suspended due to inclement weather. The Hawks home field at Wildwood Park is the venue, and the first game will start at 6:00 pm.

There is no rest for the weary, as the Durham Lords will come across town for two more with the Hawks at Wildwood, on Thursday night.
