HAWKS FINISH WEEKEND WITH TWO IN WINDSOR VS ST. CLAIR

WINDSOR, Ontario: The Hawks should roll into Windsor about 9:00 pm on Saturday night, after an important pair of games in London against Fanshawe. The host Saints would have played two as well on Saturday, against the 3-11 Mohawk Mountaineers.

The Hawks and Saints will take to the field at 1:00 pm for a double dip, in which both games will play an important role in the final standings.

The two teams met at Humber earlier this year, with the outcome a split. Humber took the first game 1-0, then dropped the second 8-1.

Prior to Sunday's games, St. Clair sat in first with a 10-4 mark, while Humber checks in at 8-1. Humber has five games in hand, but games in hand are meaningless, unless you win them.

The Saints have put up an impressive 111 runs, and are far out in front of the pack offensively on almost every front. Their pitching is solid, with Allison Telfer doing the most of the work, often pitching both ends of a doubleheader.

The Hawks have had games where they have put up large numbers, but have also won games where they have used pitching and defence to make up for a lack of production in selected games. Freshman Myranda Pierson is the talk of the league, with her seven wins and no losses. In fact, she won all of the Hawks four games last week.

After this weekend is complete, the play-off picture may be clear, but then it could be even cloudier. Sport at its best.
