HAWKS HIT THE ROAD FOR BIGGEST WEEKEND OF THE YEAR

LONDON, Ontario: The Humber Hawks women's softball team will embark Saturday morning for a pair of doubleheaders which will significantly affect the final regular season standings at season's end.

The first stop is London, with an afternoon doubleheader with the Fanshawe Falcons. Game times are set for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, on field at Stronach Park.

Humber actually sits behind the Falcons, two points back and in fourth place, but they hold four games in hand. The Hawks check in with a mark of 8-1, while Fanshawe sits at 9-4. Humber's single loss is the best in the league.

The two teams met earlier, at Humber's home diamond, with the Hawks taking the first game in a very tight affair and then seeing game two washed away and rescheduled.

Heading into these games, the Falcons are on a seven game winning streak, last losing the first game of a double dip with Conestoga on September 23. Humber, as well, is on a roll with four straight and eight of nine.

Fanshawe and Humber boast the two top pitchers in terms of ERA. Alanna Gilmour of the Falcons has seven wins and two losses, while freshman Myranda Pierson of the Hawks checks in with seven wins and no losses.

Both teams have hit the ball well, but as in the only meeting between the two teams, pitching has prevailed.
