SOFTBALL TEAM LOOKS TO EXTEND STREAK ON TUESDAY NIGHT

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario: The Humber Hawks women's softball team, currently on a roll of four straight wins and eight of nine overall, are hoping that the rains hold off and they can play the once washed out doubleheader against the Seneca Sting on Tuesday night. The first pitch of Game One is slated for 6:00 pm, with Game Two to follow shortly afterwards. Both tilts will take place at Humber's home, Wildwood Park in Mississauga.

As mentioned above, the Hawks currently sport a mark of 8-1. Although they have only suffered a single defeat, while others in the league have at least three, they sit in second place, but with five games in hand of the leader.

Seneca checks in with a league low one win, and a league high nine losses.

The strength of the Humber team lies in the arm of freshman sensation Myranda Pierson. She is undefeated this year, with a 7-0 record and an outstanding ERA of 1.69. This past week she was credited with all four wins during a 4-0 week for the Hawks.

The Sting have been close in a few games, but have been unable to close out games. The two player pitching rotation both have ERA's well above six per game.

Two Humber Hawks have taken up residence in the league top ten batting average category, with Natalie Stoberman and Elsie Gregoris carrying identical .406 averages. Lead-off hitter Aaliyah Davidson is having a solid year to date, checking in with an average of .355.

The visitors only boast one player with an average above the .300 mark, but that one player has been a standout. Brianna Bader has assembled a .393 average, by way of eleven hits in twenty eight at bats.

On paper, these games favour the home team Hawks, but the Humber squad knows better as they had to come from behind to beat a Mohawk team who only had three wins on the season.
