HAWKS SWEEP DURHAM TO EXTEND RECORD TO 6-1

OSHAWA, Ontario: A coach could not write up a better script to start a game than what the Humber Hawks softball team provided in Game one of a doubleheader on the road at league leading Durham.  The Hawks ran out to a 5-0 lead after half an inning, on their way to a dominating 10-2 win.

With the Game one win, the Hawks ran their record to five wins and just a single loss. Super freshman Myranda Pierson was once again on the mound and won for the fourth time in four decisions.

After the 5-0 lead after one, the Hawks tacked on three more in the third and the final two in the seventh. The home town Lords scored their two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Game two mirrored the first, but this time in Durham's favour, as they raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first. The Hawks then reversed what took place in game one and rallied to tie with a six spot. The Lords once again went up and led 10-7. The second big comeback saw the Hawks take a 12-10 lead. Durham grabbed one back in the bottom of the sixth, score now 12-11 for the Hawks.

Hawk winner in game 1 Myranda Pierson took to the mound in the sixth to try and close out the win. But she was unable to do so, as the home team scored again in the bottom of the seventh, forcing extra innings.

As the game moved on, the Hawks turned a game saving double play in the ninth. The game went on and on, and set the Humber record for the longest game in their history.

In the eleventh, the Hawks broke through to score and then held off the Lords for a 13-12 win.

With the sweep, the Hawks record moves to 6-1 on the season.
