HAWKS SOFTBALL TO OPEN SEASON ON TUESDAY IN KITCHENER

KITCHENER, Ontario: The Humber Hawks women's softball team, who saw their opening doubleheader of the season washed away by rain on Sunday, are now looking at sunny skies in their future as they will travel to Kitchener on Tuesday to play the Conestoga Condors.

The host Condors, 2014 OCAA silver medalists, are already four games into the season and sit with a record of two wins and two losses. The two losses came at the hands of the reigning champs, from St. Clair College. The Condors lost their ace pitcher of a year ago, but have found very capable arms since. But, their strength is the ability to put up big run counts, as evidenced by their 32-4, five inning win over Mohawk.

Humber returns almost its entire lineup, and has been able to bolster its squad in two very key positions. Myranda Pierson will take to the mound, while seasoned veteran Lauren Hollidge will spend considerable time behind the plate. The Hawks had success in its shortened pre-season, as they split with Herkimer College of New York.

Things will continue to move at a rapid pace for the Hawks, with Fanshawe and St. Clair coming into town this weekend for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at Wildwood Park.

Of note, all of the weekend games will be streamed "live". You can get the link by visiting www.humberhawks.ca and clicking on the WATCH LIVE icon on the bottom of the page.
