HAWKS TO COMPLETE FULL WEEKEND OF HOME GAMES AS FANSHAWE FLIES IN

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team will play the final two games of back-to-back doubleheaders this weekend at Connorvale Park, as London's Fanshawe Falcons come in for the second instalment of the "the battle of the birds" on Sunday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT VS FANSHAWE

The two met to open the season in London at Labatt Park, and it was the Hawks who swept away the Falcons in the first "Battle of the Birds". Game two of the doubleheader was the game of significance here, and it was Humber who dominated in every aspect of the game, coming away with 13-0 (mercy after 6 innings) result. Humber outhit Fanshawe 14 to 2 on the day, but of significance was the four errors the home team committed. The big blow was a grand slam by Hawks freshman Aidan Murphy. Another freshman, Braden Taylor, went the distance for the victory.

SCOUTING FANSHAWE

  • The two teams met last year in the bronze medal game (winner moved on to the finals), and it was Humber who came from behind to advance. The Falcons had knocked Humber out in this very same game the previous two seasons
  • Fanshawe boasts a very strong coaching staff, led by Brian Harvey, the only head coach the team has had in its five years of play
  • This is the youngest team in franchise history, as the team has fourteen freshman and nine second-year players
