HAWKS ROAR BACK TO STEAL AN 8-6 GAME TWO WIN AFTER OPENING 7-1 LOSS

OSHAWA, ON: The Humber Hawks played from behind most of the day on Sunday, and after a first game loss, were able to steal a second game win in the seventh.
GAME 1:
Durham Lords 7 vs Humber Hawks 1
The Hawks had no answer on the mound or at the plate in the opener at Kinsmen Stadium in Oshawa. Although the Hawks ran out to a quick one run lead in the top of the first, it was Durham's ace Alec Brown that shut down the visiting Hawks the rest of the way.
Humber's ace Steven Hough toed the rubber for Humber, but his day unraveled throughout his six innings on the bump. The Lords responded quickly with three in the first, and tacked on another one in the second. It was the fifth inning when Durham put the game out of reach, scoring three more times via a double, sac fly and a run-scoring single.
Alec Brown went the distance for the win, allowing Humber a single earned run and yielding a game low four hits. Hough, who went five innings, was tagged with the loss. Humber's Braden Taylor pitched a scoreless sixth in relief.
No Hawk was able to get multiple hits, with four Humber players with one safety each. Brendan Lyons recorded the lone run batted in for the Hawks in the contest. Lead-off hitter Brian Wowk stayed hot for the Lords, hitting safely three times and scoring two runs.
GAME 2:
Humber Hawks 8 vs Durham Lords 6
After falling behind early, the Hawks showed life and held a 3-2 lead going into the fourth. It was here that the walls came tumbling down, as Durham put up a four spot to take a commanding 6-3 lead.
Good teams respond after a lost inning, and the Hawks did just that. They did not push across enough runs to tie or grab a lead, but they got within one run, down 6-5. After a blanked inning, the visitors from Etobicoke responded again, this time in grand fashion.
A huge three-run seventh, with the last two runs coming via a Durham error, was all that closer Matt Stoddart needed to close out an 8-6 win and gain a split on the day. In fact, Stoddart pitched the sixth and the seventh in scoreless fashion to claim the victory.
Unlike the first game, Humber had four players with multiple hits in this affair. Liam Sutherland, Keegan Murphy, Denis Dei Baning and Andrew Thomson had two hits each. Dei Baning and Brandon Costa led the Hawks with two runs batted in.
After a stellar first outing, Hawk starter Brendan Lyons was roughed up, surrendering six runs, but only two were earned as Humber committed three errors.
Sam Gawker and Jake Legros were the hitting stars for the Lords, both rapping out three hits each. Jason Crouse came out of the pen in the seventh, and was tagged with the loss, although only giving up a single earned run.
THE WRAP
Humber has moved to 4-2 on the season, while the Lords split doubleheaders for the third consecutive outing and sit at 3-3.

Humber will continue its run of eight road games, as they will play Seneca on Wednesday night at Bishop's Cross, before playing its first home game on Saturday at Connorvale vs St. Clair.
