HAWKS ADD SOUTHPAW FOR 2016 SEASON

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks added left-handed pitcher Daniel Cirillo to the class of signees joining the squad for the 2016 season, assistant coach Matt Ferreira announced on Monday.  Cirillo is a left-handed pitcher from St. Marguerite d'Youville High School in Brampton.

"We are certainly excited about the addition of Daniel to our 2016 class," Coach Ferreira said.  "Daniel is a fierce competitor who brings a bulldog mentality to the diamond each and every day.  He will compete for a spot in our starting rotation but is also a very talented outfielder.  He adds a dimension of versatility and the type of mindset that you love as a coach."

The five-foot-eight Cirillo currently plays for the Brampton Royals 18U team of the baseball Ontario Midget Elite League, where he finished with the best ERA on the club in 2014.

"Humber College offers the program I want to take and their athletic program is second to none," said Cirillo when asked why he chose Humber.

Cirillo will be enrolling in the Plumbing Techniques certificate program.

"I have family in the trades and this program really interests me," added Cirillo.

Cirillo is the second recruit announced by Coach Ferreira this season, joining teammate Aaron Arbic-Cohen of Christ the King Catholic School in Georgetown.  Arbic-Cohen and Cirillo are currently playing together with the Brampton Royals.

"I also know Justin Pacheco, Keegan Murphy, and Andrew Thomson.  I'm quite familiar with Humber baseball."

Cirillo and the rest of the Hawks will begin summer camp August 22-24 in preparation of the 2016 baseball season.
