October 15, 2016

OSHAWA, ON: Just a couple of weeks ago, the Humber Hawks men’s baseball team sat with a 1-5 record and in danger of not participating in the 2016 OCAA championships which they are hosting. But, how things can change in a couple of weeks. Humber ends the regular season on a run of 12 wins and just two losses, and will earn a home game in the playoffs as they have clinched second place. On Saturday afternoon, in sunny Oshawa, Humber and the host Durham Lords split a pair of games. Durham held on for a 7-6 win and game one, while the Hawks scored early and often to run away with a 6-2 win. Humber’s opponent in the opener of the provincial championships, schedule for 11:00 am at Connorvale Park in Etobicoke next Friday, will be determined on Sunday as Fanshawe and Durham have doubleheaders left to play. With the split, the Hawks end the season with a solid 13-7 record.
