HAWKS AT HOME AGAINST DEFENDING CHAMPS FROM ST.CLAIR

ETOBICOKE, Ontario: The Humber Hawks have been road warriors this season, not playing a single home game as we near the half way point of the schedule, will play a pair of doubleheaders, both with significant play-off implications this weekend.

The Hawks open with the defending champion St. Clair Saints on Saturday afternoon, with games slated for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at Connorvale Park. They will then top off the weekend with a pair against London's Fanshawe Falcons on Sunday afternoon, at the same times and same venue.

St. Clair is currently undefeated and solidly entrenched in first place, and sport a perfect 10-0 record. Humber has come face to face with a number of rainouts but still have got nine games in, and have a second best 6-3 mark.

These two teams met earlier this season in Tecumseh, with the home town saints taking both, but by the slimmest of margins. The Saints came back from 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win, and then won the nightcap by a score of 2-1.

As the scores indicate, pitching has been the most dominating factor on both teams. But, both teams feature players among the top batters in the league, which shows offence is always close by.

A sweep by the visitors would almost put every other team out of range in catching them for first overall, and even a sweep by the Hawks would not put them over the hump. They would still need a solid run and some help to challenge for first. A split could move the Hawks closer to solidifying a second or third finish.
