NEW LOOK HAWKS TO TAKE FLIGHT IN WINDSOR

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks badminton team will continue their preparation for the upcoming OCAA Regional and Provincial tournaments by travelling to Windsor this weekend to compete in the St. Clair Open.

Joining the team for this event will be new additions Crystal (Yuying) Qu and Arpit Teneja, playing their first event wearing the blue and gold. The two players are top-line players who add depth to an already strong Hawk roster.

Chloe Rowe, defending CCAA National champion will also make the trip. She has won the "triple-crown" in the two college events she has played this year – gold in women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

The St. Clair event is an "open", and will include both college and club players, which should pose significant challenges all weekend long.

The event typically draws more than 200 players that includes individual entries from across the region including American players making it one of the largest badminton events in the province.

Men's and women's singles play begins Friday night at 5 p.m. with the men's doubles event beginning Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. followed by women's doubles at 11 a.m. The tournament wraps up on Sunday with the mixed doubles event beginning at 9 a.m.

Admission for spectators is free of charge the entire weekend.
