HAWKS OPEN OCAA REGIONALS ON FRIDAY AT CONESTOGA

TORONTO - Student-athletes from across the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) are serving for real this Friday and Saturday as they bid for a spot at the 2017 OCAA Badminton Championships presented by belairdirect.

Participants will compete in one of five events, including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The top three singles players and doubles teams from each discipline will advance to provincials.

Collège Boréal in Sudbury, Ont., will play host to the east regionals, and include student-athletes from Boréal, Centennial College, George Brown College, Georgian College, St. Lawrence College (Brockville) and Seneca College.

Conestoga College plays host to the west regionals, and includes student-athletes from Conestoga, Fanshawe College, Humber College, Mohawk College, Redeemer University College, St. Clair College and the University of Toronto Mississauga.

The OCAA Badminton Championships will take place Feb. 17-18 at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.

The 2017 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Badminton National Championship will be hosted by Seneca College in Toronto from March 9-11.
