BADMINTON ADDS ASSING TO COACHING STAFF

ETOBICOKE, ON: Humber Hawks Badminton's head coach, Ray Wong, introduces Jesse Assing as the team's newest assistant coach. Assing joins Humber after finishing his post-secondary career as a Hawk.

"I am really excited to continue to be a part of the team," says an enthusiastic Assing. "It's going to be different being on the other side of the line, but I can't wait."

Assing joins the Hawks coaching staff after an outstanding career as the college's most decorated student-athlete. In the 2015 season he was a key member of the men's outdoor soccer, men's indoor soccer, and badminton programs. Assing won a combined total of three national championship medals and four provincial championship medals. Six of seven medals claimed were gold with one second place finish earning silver.

"Coming in with an already accomplished career, Jesse is going to make an immediate impact," claims Michael Kopinak, Associate Athletic Director and Badminton Varsity Coordinator at Humber. "He has the experience and passion that makes for a great player and an even better coach."

The 2016-17 badminton season will begin October 14, 2016 for coach Assing and the team as the Hawks host the Humber Cup.
