Humber Athletics leads the nation with 63 National Scholar Award winners

ETOBICOKE – The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced the National Scholar Award recipients for the 2020-21 season.

The CCAA National Scholar Award recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of student-athletes. To be recognized, a student-athlete must achieve honours standing at their institution in the current academic year.

1,200 student-athletes from 45 institutions were named national scholars, with the Humber Hawks leading the way with 63 recipients. It's a new record for Humber, who has seen its total consistently rise since 2017 and nearly double its total of 38 from last season. Champlain Saint-Lambert finished second with 51 selections, while the University of Alberta-Augustana and Cégep Garneau tied for third with 50. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) led all conferences with 369 recipients, while the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) finished third with 230.

Women's soccer led the charge for the Hawks finishing with 14 selections, while curling and women's volleyball tied for second with 11.
