Eric Savage Returns To Hawks Staff in Varsity Coordinator Role

ETOBICOKE, ON: Eric Savage, a graduate from Humber and former Humber Athletics staffer, returns to the Hawks nest as the Varsity Coordinator. He will move back into the role he held on an interim basis two years ago, when James DePoe took a one-year sabbatical to further his studies. This time around, DePoe will be heading out on parental leave over the next academic year.

Savage, after a year with the Algonquin Athletic Department, is excited to be back in the house of the blue and gold.

"My time with Algonquin was valuable in my development", said Savage, "but when the opportunity to work back at Humber came up, I could not pass on it".

He will be responsible for "all things" varsity sport, including all operational duties such as travel, eligibility, and scheduling. He will also use his vast event experience to assist with the two national championships Humber will host this coming year, baseball in the fall and men's basketball in the winter semester.

During his time at Humber, he was an integral part of the men's basketball program, helping the Hawks win the 2015 CCAA National crown. It is unknown at this point what role he may play with the team, but it is certain that he will not be too far away from the court.

"Eric is so well-versed in everything Humber Varsity, the transition is sure to be a smooth one", said Humber Associate Director of Athletics Mike Kopinak. "His skill-set, experience and committment is second to none, and we are excited moving forward."

Savage began this past Monday. He can be reached at eric.savage@humber.ca, or by calling 416.675.6622, extension 4515.
