FORMER HAWK STANDOUT O’QUINN WINS WORLD DODGEBALL SILVER

ETOBICOKE, ON: Jessica O'Quinn, a former OCAA women's softball player of the year and two-time champion, traded her glove and cleats in to represent Canada at the 2016 World Dodgeball Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

O'Quinn and her teammates captured the silver medal at the World Championships. Canada dropped the gold medal game to Malaysia. The men's team captured gold.

Jessica love of dodgeball came into play when she joined the Humber North Campus Extramural team. They competed in a number of events, and she stood out. Her strong arm, coming from pitching softball and playing outfield in slo-pitch, has served her well. She has the ability to throw both windmill and overhand, a skill that is confusing and effective.

The Canadian teams are well known around Humber's Lakeshore Campus, as they use the Lakeshore gym as one of their main training facilities.

Toronto will be the host to the 2017 Championships, on October 19-21, 2017. The venue has yet to be determined.
