AMBER BECHARD: REPORTING FROM BARCELONA, SPAIN

Hola!

After continuous days of working hard, we finally had a day off. The usual scrumptious breakfast at the hotel restaurant started off our day before we split off into groups to do our own things.

I headed to the beach spot where we all convene throughout the day to catch some waves and rays.

The street markets of La Rambla are filled with vendors selling everything from food to jewelry  to local goods, it is sprawled out for blocks from the beach into the city core, making it a popular destination for us hungry beach dwellers. Cooking in the sun all day really drains your energy.

After a hearty meal and a few other snacks, parts of the team took to the surrounding streets of Barcelona to do some shopping damage.

After a long, long walk back to the hotel, with a bum knee, I collapsed on the bed with my roommates and began to plan out our next move.

Team dinner time. With the team winning (awarded by us) best dressed in Barcelona, we hopped in some cabs and took to the Port where we would conquer a feast fit for queens.

First course was a treat. Second was a dream. And third, a fish dish so fresh it was just pulled from the sea. All together, we were satiated with all the cultural cuisine Spain could bless us with.

A toast to the success of the team and another for the many more years to come concluded our team dinner and we once again headed home to prepare for the games ahead.
